My dear friends,
Italy is fantastic! Three days ago I arrived
at the Restas'.
Rebecca Resta lives in the town centre, in a
beautiful and bright house located in one of the most beautiful squares in
Mesagne.
On 24th December afternoon Alessandra took me here and together with my new friend Rebecca we walked to the park (they call it "Villa comunale"), where there are many kinds of plants and trees, a basketball court and an area equipped with games for children. I had fun trying the swing.

When we came back home Rebecca introduced me to her father Luigi, her mother Angelita and her lovely little sister Greta.
Then Rebecca played the piano for me and we enjoyed ourselves singing loudly.
Later, around 6 pm, her father drove us to Fasano, a wonderful city where Rebecca's grandparents live. After wishing them "Merry Christmas" and exchanging gifts, Rebecca and I went sightseeing.

In the evening we came back to Mesagne to spend Christmas eve with some of Rebecca's relatives... and... what a surprise!
While we were having dinner, Santa Claus arrived to bring gifts to the youngest children.

Santa Claus had also a gift for me: he gave me a wonderful house. It is right for me, there is what I need: it is arranged on three floors, with all the comforts; on the ground floor there is the kitchen and the bathroom, on the first floor there is a cosy living room connected with an internal staircase to the bedroom on the second floor ... and there is also an elevator! It's unbelievable! I still ask myself: "How could Santa know that I'm staying here with Rebecca?" It's a mistery!
Around midnight we returned home and we walked in procession,
carrying the figurine of Little Jesus around the house and singing “tu scendi
dalle stelle” an Italian Christmas carol, then Rebecca's sister put it in the
crib. It was the best Christmas I've ever had!
On Christmas morning I woke up early. Rebecca and her little sister were still sleeping so I sat on the sofa of my lovely home waiting for their awakening.
Meanwhile, the good smells from the kitchen were filling the room. Very yummy!
At 9.30 Rebecca and Greta got up, they immediately gave me the best wishes and cuddled me.
Then, after breakfast we got ready to go to church. During the Mass the excellent choir contributed to create a pleasant Christmas atmosphere, At the end of the religious celebration we returned home to wait for the guests, invited for Christmas lunch.
We were 18 and we chatted pleasantly and ate a lot; the menu included seafood and land appetizers, lasagna pasta, cavatelli pasta dressed with seafood sauce, fried fish, meatballs, rolls with sauce, "vitello tonnato" (slices of veal dressed with creamy tuna sauce), various side dishes and many typical Christmas sweets... At the end of lunch we were really full. In the afternoon we played table games (bingo or "tombola" and "mercante in fiera"). In the evening we had a walk with some friends of the Resta family. While walking I met Alessandra and Sofia, the girl who is hosting me in two days.
The day after Christmas was quieter than the previous days. In the morning we got up late, then we had breakfast and chatted and joked until lunchtime.. Rebecca told me that it was a special day because on the 26th December catholic people celebrate Saint Stephen, the 1st martyr of Christianity. She told me his sad story.
After a light lunch, we watched TV until 6.00 pm. and then we went to Polignano a Mare, a city located south of Bari. Even though it was very cold we walked throught the streets of the wonderful old town of Polignano a Mare where they have set up beautiful lighting ... We took lots of photos with Santa Claus, his reindeer and various decorations, until 21.30.

My dear friends, I'm bit sad because
tomorrow I have to leave the Restas. I know I'll miss Rebecca a lot, but I'm
looking forward to meeting new friends.
What about you? What's Daniele Bear doing? I hope he's a good boy.
Please, write soon!
yours
Odysseas
